                                                                               Chapter 1: Avatar Artwork

"So..." Sokka said. "We... We wouldn't be safe anywhere else? What proves that? It's not like the old Fire Lord broke out and-" "I had a feeling you'd ask that..." I cut in, knowing what he would say next. "You guys aren't safe anywhere else because the people in this world are far more... bad than Ozai, Sozin, Azula, AND Azulon combined. Those people practically kill everyday."
I said, making sure they got the point that they shouldn't go out on the streets. "Oh..." Sokka said again. "Wait, so, these people are badder than my great grandfather Sozin? I didn't know that was possible." Zuko said. "Oh, it is. These people are heard of everyday on the news, which is something on the television. The news is to inform you about everything that's going on in the world." I said. "Guys, can someone tell me what material I'm standing on? I can't see a thing." Toph said. "Oh, sorry about that. What you're standing on is wood... We don't have earthen floors." I said. "Dang it. Nothing?" She said. "Well, I do have a ton of rocks and some pebbles in my room. But it's still a wood floor." I said.
As we moved into my room, I realized that my Toph drawings were still hanging up on my wall. I kept thinking about what I would say if one of the gang's members said something...
"WOAH!!!" Aang said. Perfectly on cue. "Those are amazing drawings, Ariana!" I had drawings on my desk, of Combustion man and Tien from DragonBall Z, and Sokka's weapons. I also had one of Toph beating me up.. Woops. I should've taken that off my desk...
"Oh. Yeah. Heh. I don't think I'm 'amazing'..." I modestly said. I'm not really much of a show off when it comes to drawing. Sokka saw the drawings of his weapons. "Hey, it's boomerang! And Space Sword.. How I miss you...and my jaw blade!.. and Toph's meteor bracelet! And my battle club! And my bone club!!..." he kept naming all his weapons. I handed Toph 2 palm sized rocks, then I grabbed my mini- treasure chest full of cool looking pebbles. ".. And here's my collection of cool pebbles!" I handed the chest to her. She put her hand in and sighed with relief. "Finally! Some earth around here!"
"Cool..." Katara said. "These drawings of Toph are awesome!" "Toph looked up. "What?" "Oh. Heh.. Yeah. I think I have too much free time. I basically just draw as a hobby." Toph replied, "Wait.. you can draw me?" "Yup. Sorry about you not being able to see them..." I said. "Wait. Maybe you can see them!" I said. Sokka turned around. "Now that's what I'm talking about. See? I'm not the only out-of-the-box thinker!"  "Aang, I'll need your help. We need to somehow recreate the drawing in the ground. or, we could puncture the paper when it's on the ground on the lines of the drawing. You up for it?" I explained. Toph was really excited. "If it'll work, you bet!" Aang replied.
I led them to my backyard. I handed Aang a drawing. He nodded as he knew what to do. "Woah.. That's really good! And I don't even know what I look like!" Toph said. Once Aang finished, there was a nice earthen drawing of Toph earthbending in front of us.
"How'd you learn to draw like that?" Zuko asked. "Well, I've been practicing.. And my mom was a pretty good artist, so I guess I inherited some of that from her." I replied. "So, could you draw me?" Aang asked. "Sure, I guess. Although, I can't draw ears that well, and yours are pretty big. No offence." "None taken."
We headed back inside, after Aang flattened the earth image. We went back up the stairs, and into my room. I grabbed a piece of paper, my pencil, and best eraser. I started to draw Aang's head, then neck, then shirt, then arms, then pants, then boots. Then I started to fill in the details. Eyes and nose, mouth, and arrows. I also added his staff in his right hand. I put the details of the clothes in, along with creases. I put his belt in, then I shaded in his boots, and then those dark stripes. And him airbending just for the heck of it. "Done," I said. Aang was over my shoulder watching me draw, like a stalker the whole time. "Woah, that's amazing!!" He took the paper and showed everyone else. I tried to rub off the graphite from my pencil off the side of my hand. It just blurred it more.
Everyone (except Toph) was amazed. Katara wanted me to draw her next. So I did. Head, hair, body, Clothes, limbs, Hair Loopies, details... Waterbending.Done!. I handed the drawing to her, and she was so happy. Next, Sokka was so hyper about this. He really wanted me to draw him. "'Course!"
I said. Head, Warriors Wolf Tail, body, clothes, limbs, boomerang sheath strap, legs, boots. Details...And him throwing his boomerang. Done. "Here ya go, Mr. Boomerang!" I said. Just to cheer him up a bit more. Zuko wanted his drawing next. "Ok." I said. Head, hair, scar, body, limbs, clothes, and Firebending. I gave him the paper, and he smiled. Wow, what a rarity! He actually smiled! I'm that good? Huh.
Toph wanted me to draw her next. I agreed of course, and I set to work.
Head, headband, hair, bangs, facial details. I drew her neck and collar of her shirt; and the green part under that. I don't really use color here, just pencil shadings. I drew the yellow shirt part, and that little tag thing. sleeves, arms, wrist protectors, fists. I then drew her belt, with the studs, and then the yellow part under that. I drew her pants/shorts, then her legs, ankle protectors, feet, check. Creases in clothes...check. Shading....checkeroo.  Then I drew the ground cracking beneath her right foot, along with some effects that make it look like she's stomping. I drew a giant rock to right of her, coming up from the ground. I also shaded everything in, putting shadows in their correct spots. "I'm done!" Sokka saw the drawing first. He nearly fainted. Katara was speechless; Zuko said it was the best drawing of any of us. Aang was even more amazed at my drawing 'abilities'. "You guys really think so?" Aang nodded immediately. The rest of the group agreed. Toph was judging it by everyone else's reactions, so she (correctly) guessed that it was awesome. "Wow. That's the nicest thing I've heard from anyone in my entire life." I said. "Well, it's true. You have awesome drawings. Better than me. And I'm pretty good, if I do say so myself." Sokka said. We all snickered. "Yeah... 'pretty good'." Katara said.
Then we all burst out laughing.
